January
  • January 2: 1st rehearsal of the year for the LODB at Dan’s house.
  • January 5: No ODCB rehearsal.
  • January 7: BBQ resumes rehearsals.
  • January 9: LODB resumes rehearsals.
  • January 12: Warrick County still ‘red’. No ODCB due to virus.
  • January 14: No BBQ due to virus.
  • January 16: LODB rehearsal.
  • January 19: ODCB at Genesis but with downsized band smaller than we used for our Christmas concerts—about 15 musicians playing circus music.
  • January 26: Circus music with small band.
  • January 30: ODCB board meeting.
February
  • February 2: Circus music with small band.
  • February 9: Circus music with small band.
  • February 11: No BBQ because of ice storm.
  • February 16: No ODCB due to snow.
  • February 19: No BBQ because of Dan and Terri’s 2nd COVID shot appointments.
  • February 23: Circus music with small band.
  • February 24: Newburgh Town Council voted down request to waive fees for band to use amphitheater for a Spring and a Fall concert.
  • February 27: ODCB Board.
  • February 29: 1st rehearsal with full band. 35 present for cupcakes for band’s birthday party.
March
  • March 3: Met with Newburgh Arts Council and Town Council regarding a revised fee schedule for non-profits and certain Town organizations. The Band was recognized as an important Town organization and the amphitheater fee was waived for our Spring and Fall concerts. The fees were relaxed somewhat for non-profit groups and waived completely for certain organizations recognized as being ‘Newburgh groups’.
  • March 9: ODCB rehearsal with full band at Genesis Auditorium.
  • March 11: Jon Patton notified me that Cory had tested positive for COVID. The Pattons were present at the rehearsal on 9/3. Band notified.
  • March 19: Ted Gore quit ODCB citing fear of COVID-19 and the fact that he is home-schooling his grandkids.
  • March 20: Jerry Reese started playing drums with the LODB on Saturday mornings.
  • March 25: Note that BBQ has still been meeting on Thursdays at 10 am and trying to utilize the shelter house at Friedman Park when possible.
  • March 31: RiverBrass resumes rehearsals by social-distancing in the gymnasium at Epworth Church.
April
  • April 13: Ed Gorman has rotator cuff surgery and will be out for 12 weeks.
  • April 17: The LODB plays for the grand opening of Pete Emery’s pottery studio.
  • April 27: ODCB Spring concert at Friedman Park.
May
  • May 20: 10 am BBQ tried out the new Allen Family Amphitheater.
June
  • June 5: LODB at Allen Family Amphitheater to play for Strawberry Festival 11:30 am – 1:30 pm.
  • June 10: BBQ meeting at shelter house at Friedman Park.
  • June 19: ODCB bought a new (used) copier.
  • June 29: Last ODCB rehearsal at Genesis Auditorium.
July
  • July 3: The ODCB played from 6:30 to 8:00 before the Henderson Fireworks.
  • July 6: ODCB returned to Castle South Middle School for regular rehearsals. Mike Garrison returned to band.
  • July 10: Some ODCB members played for Jon Patton at the Midway Summer Social. The tent blew away!
  • July 15: BBQ played at Friedman Park for the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra youth event.
August
  • August 7: The ODCB performed at 7 pm at a joint concert with the Terre Haute Band.
  • August 10: Gary Bornefield’s last rehearsal with the ODCB before moving to North Carolina.
  • August 28: Shirley Book passed away.
September
  • September 4: Newburgh’s Labor Day Fireworks but ODCB did not play.
  • September 12: LODB played in the gazebo at Bell Oaks.
  • September 18: No LODB as most members are with other groups at New Harmony Kunstfest.
  • September 21: ODCB rehearsals at CSMS moved to 6:30.
  • September 28: ODCB Fall concert at Friedman Park.
October
  • October 2: LODB half marathon gig rained out.
  • October 7: Matt Kuebler just retired from the Air Force Band and came to visit and play with BBQ.
  • October 8: ODBC declined participation in Fall Festival Parade.
  • October 19: Scott Dallas started playing with the ODCB to prepare for Christmas concerts.
  • October 23: LODB played at Lou Dennis Park for Sara Solano’s work reception.
  • October 23: ODCB groups were to play for Halloween at Friedman from 4 to 8 but it was rained out.
  • October 31: ODCB Annual Meeting at Kiwanis Building at Noon. Pitch-in dinner and recitals by LODB, BBQ, and Trillseekers.
November
  • November 9: Bruce Balsdon (F horn) returned to ODCB after being away for about ten years.
  • November 20: North Main Street Parade cancelled.
December
  • December 7: ODCB Christmas concert at Evansville Central Library.
  • December 10: ODCB Christmas concert at Newburgh Christian Church.
  • December 11: Newburgh Celebrates Christmas – ODCB groups downtown from 11 to 2.
  • December 14: No ODCB rehearsal.
  • December 21: No ODCB rehearsal.
  • December 28: Band party at Schultz house.
