January
  • January 24th: Jerry is ill. Jimmy Moore conducted ODCB rehearsal.

February
  • February 1st: Jim Allison died. Jim never played with the ODCB but had subbed for Dan several times with the LODB and Rhine Valley Brass. Although not a member of the ODCB, Jim was instrumental in all ‘tuba happenings’ in the area, including organizing the yearly Merry Tuba Christmas events. He played with several ensembles, including the Evansville Symphonic Band for many years.
  • February 4th: The LODB played at Market Street Living in Evansville.
  • February 18th: The LODB played at Bell Oaks at 1:30 PM.
  • February 23rd: Day Band played circus music at Market Street Living at 11 AM.
  • February 25th: The LODB played for the Riley Walk at Eastland Mall.
  • February 28th: ODCB rehearsal is on a one-hour delay due to the Jazz Fest at Castle South.

March
  • March 28th: ODCB Spring concert at the Newburgh Central Library.

April
  • April 13th: The Day Band played for the dedication of space at B. Gene Aurand trailhead at 2 PM.
  • April 16th: Discovered that The Band’s web page is down due to the domain not being renewed. Joe got it straightened out and restored. Apparently, renewals had been done by Nance Fiester (Wayne was the original webmaster) at an earlier date and Joe did not receive notification.

May
  • May 2nd: Nan Baum died early in the morning. The funeral is scheduled for May 13th at Zeimer East.
  • May 21st: Visited John Sakel in ICU.
  • May 27th: Rose Hill Cemetery Memorial Service.
  • May 27th: Friedman Park dedication.

June
  • June 6th: Rehearsal at Castle High School (South closed for deep cleaning).
  • June 6th: John Sakel died at 7:30 PM. Funeral scheduled for June 11th from 2 to 6 PM at Boone Funeral Home.
  • June 20th: Dan approached the Warrick County Parks Board about doing our Fall concert at Friedman Park, and it was approved.
  • June 24th: The LODB played at the Newburgh Farmers Market at 10 AM.

July
  • July 1st: Annual Band picnic and Newburgh’s fireworks at Lock & Dam Park.
  • July 4th: Regular rehearsal and picnic ‘leftovers’ at Jerry’s house afterwards.
  • July 11th: Held rehearsal at the new Friedman Park Amphitheater.
  • July 15th: Newburgh Remembers at Lock & Dam Park. The ODCB played at Noon before the reenactments.
  • July 22nd: Terre Haute Band Festival. We played at 3 PM.
  • July 29th: LODB played at 10 AM at Newburgh Health Care.

August
  • August 29th: Regular rehearsal at Castle High School.
  • August 31st: Last day for The Rathbone Home. The LODB had played there many times, and it was also the home of Dave Emery and his wife for several years.

September
  • September 16th: The LODB played at the Newburgh Farmers Market. Jimmy Moore subbed for me.
  • September 26th: ODCB Fall concert at Friedman Park.

October
  • October 7th: The ODCB played in the Fall Festival Parade.
  • October 28th: The ODCB led Newburgh’s Halloween Parade.

November
  • November 5th: The ODCB Annual Meeting was held at the Newburgh Library.
  • November 10th: The Day Band performed for the Veterans Day luncheon at Bell Oaks.
  • November 19th: Evansville North Main Street Christmas Parade at 2:30 PM. The Rexings pulled the trailer.

December
  • December 6th: John Wittenbraker had a stroke just before River Brass. I drove him to Gateway Emergency and had him admitted.
  • December 7th: The Day Band performed Christmas music at the Alexandrian Library in Mount Vernon at 6 PM.
  • December 8th: The Day Band performed Christmas music at 3 PM at the nativity exhibit at the Latter Day Saints Church on Covert Avenue.
  • December 12th: ODCB Christmas concert at the Newburgh Library.
  • December 19th: ODCB Christmas concert at the Evansville Central Library.
  • December 22nd: Castle South closed for Christmas break through January 2nd.
