Old Dam Community Band 2013 history
- Old Dam Community Band rehearsals continue to be held at Castle South Middle School. On the 4th Tuesdays… we often meet at the Newburgh Central Library for either a concert of a rehearsal.
- Thursday nights are an ongoing mix of ‘Big Brass Quartet’ or ‘Day Band’ meetings. It’s difficult to get enough folks together to continue with ‘Big Band’ material… which pretty much requires twelve or so instruments at a minimum.
- The Little Old Dam Band meets on Saturday mornings and continues to be a strong fund-raising and outreach group.
January 8 – Old Dam Community Band rehearsals continue at Castle South Middle School with Jerry Reese conducting.
January 19 – The Little Old Dam Band provided music for the first annual Kiwanis ‘Chili Cook-off’ organized by Wayne Fiester. The first event took place at the Legion Post in Newburgh.
February 9 – The Little Old Dam Band played at Newburgh Health Care at 10am.
February 12 – A group multi-media students visited The Band to start making a video about The Old Dam Community Band for the WNIN ‘community link’ project. They interviewed several band members and spent most of the rehearsal taking video.

July 4 – The Old Dam Community Band’s annual picnic and concert before Newburgh’s fireworks went perfectly for the first time in several years! No rain and no storms! We had the Lockmaster Houses reserved for the event and erected our performance canopy on the concrete pad at the base of the hill at Lock & Dam Park.

The short also destroyed one of the 12 volt car batteries that powers the lighting system!

June 12 – Jim Sermersheim
